Hello everyone,
In just a few short days, the Writer's Digest Novel Writing Conference begins in Los Angeles, California. This is the first event of its kind for WD and we couldn't be more excited. Most conferences (including our own NYC event) cover a lot of ground—so much so, in fact, that "craft" tends to take a back seat to sessions on platform development, promotion, and various methods of publishing. But here in Los Angeles, it's going to be three days of craft, craft, and possibly a bit more about craft. Oh, there will be two or three sessions on helping your book see the light of day, but our goal here is to really help attendees learn something about their writing and how to improve it.
To that end, we have an exciting lineup of writing instructors, bestselling authors, and even a few agents added to the mix. You'll meet newer authors like Josh Malerman, who only recently published his first novel (to wide acclaim), as well as career bestsellers like David Morrell and Jonathan Maberry. You'll also learn from genre experts like Barbara O'Neal, Philip Athans, Jeff Gerke, Deborah Halverson, Larry Brooks, Mary Buckham, and Christopher Farnsworth . All that, plus illuminating insights from well-known instructors like Martha Alderson, Fred White, Jordan Rosenfeld, and Susan Shapiro.
From idea generation and story structure on Friday, through the elements of the craft on Saturday (followed by an awesome cocktail party), and concluding with revision and querying on Sunday, it's a fantastic event for novelists looking to take their craft to the next level.
It's not too late to join us. In fact, when you register by August 14, you get all of this for only $299.
I hope to see you there!
Keep writing Phil | |
