Parable Christian stores are phasing out e-book sales. One of the first to offer digital titles in the Christian market, in 2011, Parable decided to discontinue the service Oct. 1, “in response to lack of consumer demand” for e-books on Parable.com. Users were informed of the decision early last month, with a follow-up reminder emailed last week. They have until Nov. 30 to access any e-books they may have not yet downloaded.
“We’ve seen consumer demand shift to physical books ordered on Parable.com to ‘pick-up in-store,'” a Parable statement explained. “This online feature has seen significant double-digit year-over-year growth and has become a successful traffic-driving tool for our brick & mortar partners.”
