FROM ARTICLES TO CHAPTERS

Q – I'm currently writing articles, but hope to make them chapters in a book eventually. What do I need to do to be sure I can make that happen?

 

A -. It all comes down to keeping control of your rights. If you sell only first rights or one-time rights to the articles, you're free to use the material in a book in the future. Even if you've sold all rights to some of the articles, you can contact those publishers and ask if they will release the rights so you can use them in your book. Most will.
